Blog Post #6
I looked at Leon High School's website, specifically the website of Biology teacher Matt Guyton (https://www.leonschools.net/Domain/4881). He teaches AP Biology and Honors biology, not a specific grade level. The class calendar is available for anyone to look at, as well as the class syllabus. There is also some information about Mr. Guyton himself. The website looks very different from when I was a student at Leon!
Even though I'm not sure what my job will be, I assume I'll be using some form of technology no matter what. Email is here to stay, and I already use it every day. I think I'll also use services like Google Docs and Google Sheets to collaborate on work projects and keep my coworkers updated on whats going on in our workplaces. This is a lot more efficient that having a bunch of different versions of one document that we all have to pass around! Google Docs and Google Slides already make group projects much easier!
There's lot of cool technology in the Tech Sandbox! I've already had some experience with using the 3D pens, but this trip was interesting because it showed me what other resources are available for our use in the Sandbox. I particularly liked the Smart-boards. I think they would be very useful when learning a new language - you get the tactile feel of actually writing in a new script, but the convenience of being able to erase and go back with ease. They could also be used to do math on the board and then be able to save the work and post it as a resource for your students to look at later. It's a very cool piece of tech, and I'll definitely be back there to use it more.
